Coffee Talk: How to Begin the Caregiver Conversation with an Aging Loved One with Iris Waichler, MSW, LCSW

There are currently 45 million caregivers. A Pew Research study revealed 47 percent of adults in their 40's and 50's have a parent who is 65 or older while supporting a child. Are you one of them? You may be in the future. What will you need to know to be a good caregiver? How do you begin the caregiver conversation with an aging loved one or parent? Find out how to approach the topic of caregiving and what needs to be done to help all parties prepare.

Iris Waichler has been a licensed clinical social worker and patient advocate for 40 years. She has worked as a medical social worker counseling people with catastrophic illnesses such as cancer, stroke, dementia, and head injuries. She also has worked with their families to help them transition from hospital to home. Ms. Waichler is the award winning author of Role Reversal How to Take Care of Yourself and Your Aging Parents. She is a freelance writer authoring hundreds of articles on healthcare related topics.
