About Blessons for Women
Our Mission: Blessons for Women provides free mentorship, educational workshops and wellness clinics for all women, in addition to scholarships to disadvantaged, low-income women who are 25 years or older and who have had their higher education interrupted due to challenging life lessons such as; cancer, mental illness, physical or emotional abuse, sex trafficking or who are first generation female immigrants.
About Team Blessons
Team Blessons is the Blessons for Women grassroots fundraising program devoted to raising awareness through local events, endurance races, and fundraisers. Team Blessons members come from all over the world and raise anywhere from $100 to $50,000 creating, hosting, and executing their events on behalf of our free programs for women.
Job Summary
Blessons for Women is looking for an exceptional undergraduate/graduate student intern to work directly with Team Blessons division on social media strategy and digital communications. This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in building a non-profit resume to work with passionate professionals and enjoy a real opportunity to make a difference for women living with challenging life lessons. We're looking for a commitment of 10-15 hours a week. Start and end dates are flexible, but we ask that you commit to at least a 5-month internship time frame for Spring or Fall semester or a 3-month internship time frame for Summer.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Communicating with constituents on
Establishing fundraising best practices for new markets
Connecting constituents with Blessons for Women resources
Media monitoring, social media listening and reporting
Developing new campaigns and event ideas to implement on
Experience / Skills Required
Current college student (junior/senior level) or graduate student
Self-starter who takes initiative, can solve problems self-sufficiently, but takes direction well
Strong verbal and written communication skills - an interest in storytelling
Strong social media skills; ability to plan and conduct social media campaigns and updates
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Graphic Design skills (Photoshop, or Canva)
Detail-oriented; can be counted on to produce high-quality work
Interested in the non-profit sector
Here Is Where You Also Come In
Social Media
Develop and post content for Blessons for Women in several social media channels including Blogger, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat and Instagram
Stay on top of best practices for social media and develop new social media strategies for the organization
Attend Blessons for Women programming weekly; write blogs, live FB stories, post photos to Instagram and stories and Snapchat
Create and boost the Playworks Intern Twitter account on a daily basis
Co-create and support annual appeal, individual donor campaigns and all events
Videography and Photography
Know how to shoot video and splice clips into top-notch, high-quality videos that can be used externally
Develop and manage Bessons for Women YouTube channel, including production of illustration videos
Create Infographics that are cutting-edge using free online programs
Know the basics of taking good photos and be comfortable in any situation
Research expansion targets in Chicago and it’s surrounding areas for potential partnerships, engagement opportunities, and/or interest in Blessons for Women programming
Research and build a database around current issues relating to play
