Through our free services; mentorship, educational workshops and wellness clinics for all women, in addition to scholarships to disadvantaged women who have had their higher educacation put on hold due to challenging life lessons, Blessons for Women helps under-served women in Chicago have a lasting positive impact on their communities and become ecnomically advanced women by teaching effective social skills and strong leadership skills, increasing participants' sense of possibility, and fostering a sense of empowerment through a new trade, job skill, higher education and personal responsibility.
Intern Job Description
Blessons for Women seeks an intern to assist with social media, fundraising, and event planning. The intern will work with the Founder & Executive Director and Key Volunteer Staff on all aspects of these projects.
This unpaid internship is open to students who need an internship or field placement in order to fulfill the requirements for their degree. Interested and qualified students who cannot meet the above requirement can also structure it as an Independent Study for which they receive credit.
Responsibilities
Manage and create content for daily social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube)
Interact and engage with our followers and audience
Collect, organize, and post photos of each program in a timely fashion
Organize and run a community outreach event
Possibly assist with online fundraising and fundraising events
Work closely with senior staff on specific projects
Requirements
Able to commit at least 10 hours per week
Experience with social media, event planning, and fundraising
Highly organized with excellent writing skills
Dedication to social justice and anti-oppressive practice
Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and flexibly
Experience working with under-served and/or marginalized women preferred
Previous experience in blogging, writing, conducting interviews ; social work, mental health or community-based women or family programming preferred

Possible experience in using tools for our personal and professional development workshops and wellness clinics including our What’s Your BS Women’s Circles with under-served women populations (depending on hours and interest).
Students can receive supervision from an LCSW if needed. Please check with your institution about required supervision and/or required credentials of field supervisor.
